I can't push this off any more.

This journal entry is a reflection of what my 365 day project taught me (I needed to write it down just to get all my thoughts out of my head)

So, here goes nothing.

Things I Learned:

-I really do fucking love macro.

-I should've downloaded GIMP sooner...

-good lighting is very important (so says the lighting designer)

-framing framing framing

-try every style until you find one you like

-take your camera FUCKING EVERYWHERE

-take a lot of shots to make sure you've focused on the right object (this is especially helpful when using a manual lens)

-going along with that, if you use a digital camera and can zoom in on the displayed image, do so to make sure the object you want is in focus (or upload the pictures to your computer asap-- seeing the image on a bigger screen is helpful)

-pay attention to your background

-be the model sometimes!

-always delete photos off of your camera as soon as they're on your computer

-then ORGANIZE AND FILE all the pictures

My Biggest Lessons:

DON'T BE AFRAID:
ask people to be your models
look like a tourist
take your time to get the right shot
rearrange shit
go on an adventure.

I discovered something in this process-- whenever I had my camera with me, I never knew what to take pictures of, or nothing around me seemed interesting enough.  But when I'd forget my camera, some crazy beautiful shit would just jump out in front of me, do a little dance, and run away.  Needless to say, this royally pissed me off.  Then it got almost too coincidental that every time my camera was out of reach, I'd see something lovely.  I started to accept this fact, and realized that I never noticed the beauty around me when I was looking for beauty; I spent so much time looking through the tiny viewfinder that I was missing out on everything else around me.  Yeah, I'm pissed that I missed out on some kickass shots, but I think I was supposed to experience said beauty rather than capture it.  Those moments were special, and they were just for me, and I needed to learn to let things go.

phew.

SO
all in all,
I will recommend this project to anyone and everyone until I'm blue in the face.
The things I learned during this year cannot be taught in a classroom or a book, you just need to get out there and make a shit ton of art.
Sometimes it's gonna suck, but on those days you make a sort of promise to take a much better one tomorrow.
And that's how you improve.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to all of my watchers and friends for sticking by me and showing me so much support.

You guys are the reason this project even exists.

I love you all,
-Sydney

it's kept me away for a week from uploading all my pictures, goddammit. :shakefist:

last week of classes FOREVER begins tomorrow O.O
it feels so fucking unreal.
also, I think I'm too tired to care.

my schedule should be deliciously free now (besides finals, fun fun :sarcasticclap:) so I can take more thoughtful pictures instead of "Uugghh, it's 3 am. Here's a picture of... something stupid."

perhaps I'll dedicate my senior week to good photos.
if I can round up some models...
<.<

I really just wanna go to Vegas, but no one wants to go with me :wtf: seriously.

okay. I shall upload photos for the next few hours; every time I finish a section of homework, I allow myself to come on dA as a treat :D
so stay tuned, more to come.

Because of my indecisive nature (:dummy:), I thought I'd ask you guys.

See my chair? fav.me/d2xcezq

It's all antique-y and off-white and cracking, which I love.

BUT

Little-Solace had a cool idea to decoupage (or just glue, no need to get fancy here) cutouts from Juxtapoz Magazine and cover the whole chair.

What do I dooo??! I love antique things, so I like the chair how it is now, but I love Jenna's idea too.

What do y'all think?
